Chris & Fiona’s Powerscourt House Wedding

Some weddings feel like they’re written into the story of a place, and Chris & Fiona’s day was exactly that. Both grew up in Enniskerry, and their local wedding brought them back to one of Ireland’s most breathtaking settings — Powerscourt House and Gardens in County Wicklow.

For Chris, it was as easy as walking from his family home to the wedding. For Fiona, it meant filling the church with music from her friends, many of them talented musicians. It’s rare that a “local” wedding lands you in a venue that’s also a national treasure, but Powerscourt is just that — a house steeped in history, set in 47 acres of formal gardens considered among the most impressive in the world.

Music, Ceremony, and Surprise Opera

The ceremony was a celebration of everything Chris & Fiona love most — family, music, and shared memories of growing up in Enniskerry. The music lifted the atmosphere from the very beginning, and then Fiona gave everyone a moment they’ll never forget: her incredible opera solo mid-ceremony. Guests looked around with the same expression — “where did that come from?” — and the applause at the end was unforgettable.

For couples who love the idea of combining music and atmosphere in their day, Powerscourt is the perfect stage.

Fire Breathers and Summer Sunshine

As if music and setting weren’t enough, Chris & Fiona filled the day with entertainment — even fire breathers to wow their guests. Under a warm Wicklow summer sky, it felt more like a festival than a formal wedding, and the laughter never stopped. As photographers, those moments of surprise and delight are gold — faces lighting up, guests doubled over laughing, and constant smiles from the couple themselves.

A Powerscourt Wedding with Heart

What made this day so memorable wasn’t just the grandeur of the gardens or the entertainment — it was the heart behind it all. Chris & Fiona’s connection to Enniskerry gave their wedding a sense of homecoming, while Powerscourt gave it the grandeur of a once-in-a-lifetime celebration.

For Annie and me, it was a joy to capture. From opera to fire breathers, from quiet portraits in the gardens to the wild dance floor later that evening, it was a day full of moments we’ll never forget.
