Why I shoot film
It started in an attic darkroom.
When I was ten or eleven, my neighbour Michael let me loose in his attic darkroom. He was retired, with a stack of old cameras and a telescope he used to photograph the stars. That attic is where I fell for photography, and film has stayed with me ever since.
Film slows me down in the best way. With a limited number of frames, every one is a decision. Analogue brings its own texture, colour and character to the story: photographs that feel tangible, personal and alive.
Digital and analogue
Two mediums, one story.
Digital is the foundation. It covers your whole day, from getting ready to the dance floor, so the story is complete. Alongside it I photograph on 35mm and medium-format film, choosing the medium to suit the light, the atmosphere and the moment.
Some moments are made for film: a quiet portrait, soft light through a doorway, a hug that goes on a little longer than planned. You don't need to plan any of it. On the day it's my call, and it sits inside the same calm, documentary way I photograph everything else.

Is the entire wedding photographed on film?
No. Digital covers your whole day and analogue runs alongside it, for the moments where film brings the most to the story.
Can we add analogue to our collection?
Yes. Analogue is included in the Kheffache Collection and can be added to any other collection. The collections page has the prices.
What will we receive?
It depends on the length of your coverage. On a shorter day that's typically around 30 analogue photographs, and on a longer day up to around 100. They're delivered digitally, in their own section of your online gallery.
When will our analogue photographs be delivered?
Usually within about two weeks of the wedding.
