Kilshane House Wedding Photographer – Rachel & John

Some wedding days just feel alive from the very first moment. Rachel and John’s Kilshane House wedding was one of those. Bright sunlight spilled across the grounds and children ran through the grass while laughter echoed everywhere. Every corner of Kilshane felt full of energy and warmth.

Rachel got ready in her family home in Mount Eagle, Mitchelstown. The morning was relaxed and happy, surrounded by her sisters and closest friends. Annie photographed that part of the day in soft window light with laughter over makeup brushes and quiet moments before the dress went on. There is something special about brides getting ready at home. The atmosphere feels slower, more personal and more grounded.

Meanwhile, I was at Kilshane House photographing John and the groomsmen in the cottages behind the main house. The morning had that nervous excitement you can feel in the air. Ties were being fixed, a last coffee was shared before the drive and sunlight poured through the cottage windows. On days like this, it’s an absolute joy to be a KIlshane House wedding photographer.

Their ceremony took place in Christ Church, Fermoy. It is a beautiful stone church filled with friends and family who had travelled from near and far. Rachel’s cousin Thomas played the organ. He is blind and watching him fill the space with music was incredibly moving. Afterward everyone stepped into the sunshine for confetti and hugs before we crossed the road to the park for family photos under the trees.

From there it was on to Kilshane House, one of Ireland’s most elegant wedding venues with glass conservatories, open lawns and that famous lake. The light that afternoon was stunning. Rachel and John took a quiet walk by the water, opened a bottle of champagne and shared a moment that felt both spontaneous and cinematic. Those frames, sunlight flaring through the trees and champagne mist hanging in the air, are some of my favourites from the whole season.

As guests gathered for dinner the house came alive again. Children played on the lawn while adults enjoyed pre-dinner music from the Bentley Boys. The bell rang at half past five and everyone made their way inside for speeches and a long summer meal. It was one of those rare days when everything just felt right.

Later that week we edited the full-day recap into a short photo slideshow set to Florence and the Machine’s version of Stand by Me. It feels emotional and cinematic, perfectly fitting for a wedding that was full of heart and given how much we loved being the Kilshane house wedding photographer for Rachel & John, it was a joy to put together.

Rachel and John’s wedding reminded me why Kilshane House is such a favourite for photographers. It is not just the architecture or the scenery. It is how the light moves through the place and how people fill it with energy. It is the kind of venue that makes real moments feel timeless.
