Joelle & Stephen’s Wedding at Kilshane House, Co. Tipperary
Not that I would ever wish rain on anyone’s wedding day, but there are some venues where it truly does not matter if everything happens indoors. Kilshane House in Tipperary is one of those places. Every room has so much character you want to photograph them all: from the sweeping staircases and frescoed ceilings to the palm tree-filled glasshouse and grand halls.
A Celebration Focused on People
Joelle and Stephen did not need forests or lakes for their photographs. What they wanted was simple and beautiful: documentary wedding photography that captured the real story of their day. They asked for natural portraits with family, a handful of couple photographs for the frames and memory boxes, and most of all the atmosphere of celebration: pints with friends at the pub across the road, laughter during the drinks reception, and the kind of candid moments that only happen when you forget the camera is there.
And that is exactly how the day unfolded.
Laughter, Pints, and Pure Joy
After their ceremony, post-mass pints were poured, Prosecco toasts flowed, and photographs were taken in between canapés, laughter, and stolen moments in the drawing room. The energy was pure celebration, where emotions ran high and the laughter seemed to echo off every wall. By the time Stephen did a headstand on the dance floor, it felt like the perfect way to close a day defined by joy.
Rain Never Stopped the Fun
The rain never let up all afternoon and evening, but it did not matter. Kilshane House is one of the best venues in Ireland for wedding photography because it offers so many indoor backdrops that you almost hope for rain just to stay inside. And if you still want that sparkler shot at the end of the night, you can do what Joelle and Stephen did — pack everyone under a porch, squeeze in all the uncles with iPhones, and laugh harder than you thought possible while getting soaked.
It was messy, joyful, imperfect in the best possible way, and absolutely unforgettable.
